After it's successful theatrical run in the US, "Andre is an Idiot" is now headed to streamers!
Directed by Tony Benna, his first feature film is a debut made the hard way: powered by a mix of creative obsession, tenacity and love. In true Flesh and Bones style, the film doesn't just bend genres - it rewrites them. As Esquire Magazine said, "The Best Comedy of the Year is a Documentary about Death".
The film rides that fine line between comedy and tragedy with a perfect balance. It is an authentic portrait of an irreverent man that doesn’t soften the edges, and doesn’t pretend to be anything that he is not.
Somehow, this deeply personal, borderline unmarketable labor of love broke through anyway, winning the Audience Award at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, the Mill Valley Film Festival, the Jury Award at the Hamptons International Film Fest, and Best of the Fest at Sedona international. Benna was also nominated for an Independent Spirt Award.
Flesh and Bones produced all animation for the film. The opening title sequence was designed and directed by Aaron Ray, and the film’s stop-motion sequences, was directed by Benna himself - handmade, imperfect, and emotionally wired directly into the bloodstream of Andre's character.
